Portland
covers: Disloyalist Party and Storybook Love
|
After leaving his home in the Pacific Northwest, Alex Partridge christened his one-man electronic band after his hometown, Portland. The soothing sounds of Portland's synths create a soundscape of lush meadows, deep forests, and breathtaking waterfalls.
"the name Portland really is significant of the fact that I want the music I write to be a "portand" to the heart of God... in other words, take you to a place where you can focus on him..."
"Joy Electric was my first exposure to the world of electronic music. I still remember the first time I saw the video for "Song for all Time" and how I was instantly captivated by the otherworldly sounds and rich layering but especially by the song itself. I had never heard such a pure and catchy song having grown up listening to contemporary Christian pop which so often all sounds the same. Ronnie has been such an inspiration to me to strive to write great songs regardless of genre or trend." "I chose "Storybook Love" because that chorus is so unforgettable. I mean, come on. That is like catchiness at it's best. It's such a sweet song too. I chose "Disloyalist Party" for the chorus too. Plain and simple." |
