Flashlight Party, was founded in the summer of 2005 by Jacob Graham and Co. They've been described as "New York's new romantics", carrying on in the post-punk tradition of Joy Electric, Travelogue and Soviet. Flashlight Party crafts the pop songs of the future with the tools of the past. The band has one full length release, the critically acclaimed yet scarcely distributed 'The Future Is Bright'. "I bought Joy Electric's Melody when i was eleven years old and since the day that record arrived in the mail all I've wanted to do was write songs. I spent all of my teenage years collecting analog synthesizers and learning to use them. In my senior year of high school i joined a band from New York called Goat Explosion. Joy Electric had us as their opening act on a national tour that year in support of The White Songbook. Since then Ronnie has supported and encouraged all of my musical endeavors. I have nothing but respect for Ronnie Martin, creatively and personally." "Electric Car has always been one of my favorite Joy Electric songs. I think it embodies all of the sadness and nostalgia that we've come to associate with Joy Electric." |
