"Hi, my name is Benjamin Hurrell, I'm 21 years old and have been making music in various forms since I was about 15. I currently reside in Sheffield, England, but my roots are in the South West.
I have played with numerous bands and recorded music in a wide variety of styles - The Metal Observer once stated that "you and your perception of the world around you will change" when describing of my more experimental projects in a review, which was nice if not slightly odd. I'm currently focusing on mellower music and exploring my love of folk songs and hymns, the blues and all things acoustic."

Joy Electric is one of those artists who has had a big impact on my listening tastes, if not the music I make. I picked up a copy of Unelectric for £1 when I was at college because I like the cover. The songs fascinated me and it wasn't long before I had a couple more of his records. Then a couple more. Then a couple more. You get the idea. It was from Joy Electric that I found out about albums by Fine China and The Gravity Show, which are some of my favourite records.

The North Sea isn't a typical Joy Electric song (if such a thing exists), but if I had to choose a favourite it would be up there. I find the song haunting, and I love how the lyrics leave so much unsaid. As soon as I was told about this tribute, it was the song I wanted to do.

I hope you enjoy my music, and I'll hopefully see you around. B"
